We made our way up the hill to track the source of that radiant light. The climb seemed ever more arduous the closer we came, as though we were on the cusp of full reversal, with the heat from some foreign exhaust burning every unclothed limb. Confusing foolishness for bravery, we were undeterred, and pushed forward to reach the summit. There, hovering above us like the twirling metal spirits of bygone titans, were the discs in the sky. In what seemed like an instant, the universe was made immediate, and with a flash, they were gone.
